Last weekend we buried Mills and we heard them mention the principles he lived by over and over: Peace, humility and the others. For a moment the whole ceremony made death look like a nice thing. But like everyone who has died before, he was a good man.
Around the same time I was reading on Bob Diamond’s Libor scandal, the verdict and consequences of News Corporation’s UK phone hacking scandals and the more recent Standard Charted US wahala. These are really big names and even they are getting into big trouble because principles were overlooked. Diamond had to step down as CEO, Murdoch resigned as News International director and StanChart may have its US licence revoked. All these mishaps could have been very easily avoided if this tweet came earlier. And if they managed to see it. To me its a wake up call. No wonder I quickly saved a screenshot the day I saw it. It sounds like he’s stated the obvious but if t were that obvious would all this have happened? I doubt.
Once again, “Principles: such important things”.
